TKA1182 Torque King® Premium 9-Piece NV4500 Needle Bearing Kit features Torrington and other premium quality caged needle bearings for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and Reverse Gears plus the input shaft to mainshaft thrust bearing, input shaft to mainshaft pocket bearing, and two reverse idler gear bearings. Fits all 1992-1996 NV4500 5 speed manual transmissions in Chevy, Dodge, and GMC trucks.

Tech Note 1: QU10121 Steel Spacer
1992-1996 NV4500 transmissions use two metal cage needle bearings separated by QU10121 steel spacer for the reverse idler gear.

Tech Note 2: Ratios
1992-1996 Dodge and 1995-1996 GM NV4500 Transmissions all have a 5.61:1 reverse gear ratio. 1992-1994 GM models have a 6.34:1 reverse gear ratio. The reverse idler gear, reverse idler shaft, and reverse idler bearings are the same for both ratios.

Tech Note 3: Soak Bearings
Soak each bearing in QU90020 NV4500 oil or other approved NV4500 lubricant before assembly.

If you have a GM 4x2 C-Truck NV4500 transmission you will also need to order QU50155 Tailshaft Support Needle Bearing. QU50155 is NOT included in TK1182 or QU50473 Kits.

Tech Note 9: Lubricants, Sealants, Threadlockers
Early production NV4500 Transmissions used an anaerobic sealant (QU90003) to seal between the main case and input bearing retainer, top cover, and rear housing. Mid-production units used anaerobic sealant just on the input retainer and RTV for everything else. Later production transmissions used black RTV Sealant (QU90006 or QU90005) for everything. Either type of sealant works fine (except the PTO covers ALWAYS should be sealed with RTV), but I prefer RTV for all components. Regardless of which sealant you use, make sure excess sealant does not block the lube access hole at the top of input retainer pilot that fits into the transmission case! Also, the threaded holes in the main case for the four retainer bolts and 12 PTO bolts are open ended, so you must use new bolts with factory applied threadlocker or apply Threadlocker (S24200) to your existing bolts to prevent oil seepage past the bolt threads.
