Tech Note 1: Casting Number
The case casting number is C17457 (revision M), It can be used to replace NP241C, NP241DLD, and NP241DHD rear case halves with main casting numbers C16119 and C17457. However, the fill and drain plugs may need to be changed to QU11044.

Tech Note 2: Lubricants, Sealants, Threadlockers
A quality RTV sealant such as QU90006 is used to seal between the front and rear case halves. On GM models and 1994 to 1996 Dodge transfer cases, QU90006 is also used to seal between QU50344U Rear Case Half and the rear output bearing or extension housing. 1997 to 2002 Dodge transfer cases require the use of TK10586 Shim Gasket instead of RTV to seal between QU50344U Rear Case Half and the rear output bearing or extension housing.

Tech Note 3: Assembly
I often see rebuilt transfer cases seeping between the two case halves. The primary cause is the mating surfaces are not properly cleaned by the rebuilder. Both mating surfaces must be CLEAN. That means no old sealant, no oil, no fingerprints, no anything except clean, bare metal! Wear protective gloves, use a no-residue brake or electrical cleaner and a lint free cloth. Wipe the surfaces until your cloth does not pick up any discoloration. It is something like cleaning a firearm, if the patch comes out black, keep cleaning!
