QU10816 0.090" Snap Ring for NPG Transfer Cases & Manual Transmissions

QU10816  0.090" Thick Shaft Snap Ring for New Process Transfer Cases and Manual Transmissions 0.090" (+/- 0.0015") is used for both transfer case and manual transmission applications. QU10816 is a genuine New Process/New Venture snap ring. For 1989-2010 New Process and New Venture chain drive transfer cases such as the NP241 and NP246, QU10816 is used as the rear output ball bearing to rear output shaft snap ring. For 1969-1993 NP205 transfer cases, QU10816 is one of 4 selective fit input shaft Snap Ring used to secure small bore input ball bearings to Chevy/GMC 10 or 27 spline and Dodge 23 spline NP205 Transfer Case input shafts. To minimize input shaft end-play, the thickest Snap ring that will naturally fit in the input shaft snap ring groove and against the installed input bearing is desired. New Process offered four Snap Ring widths (QU10826) 0.087", (QU10816) 0.090", (QU10828) 0.093", (QU10829) 0.096" for the small input versions of the NP205. QU10816 Snap Ring ALSO fits 1980-1991 GM Slip Yoke Type Rear Output Shafts. For New Process manual transmissions QU10816 fits NP435, NP535, and NV2500 Manual Transmissions. USA Made.

Tech Note 1: Thickness Tolerance
Thickness tolerance is +/-0.0015".

Tech Note 2: Transfer Case Saver
New Process NP241 series transfer cases with slip yoke rear output shafts have had occasional problems with the rear output shaft bearing to rear output shaft snap ring being forced out of the shaft groove especially in vehicles with high-torque diesel engines. While relatively rare, when this problem happens significant transfer case damage occurs. A permanent solution is to replace the snap ring with one of our QK2069 Transfer Case Saver Kits.

Tech Note 3: Before NP205 Assembly
In most cases, the input ball bearing can be pushed into place on a NP205 input shaft. Before assembling the input shaft into the transfer case, temporarily install the bearing on the shaft and measure the exposed groove thickness.
