Tech Note 1: Pinion Seal
The Pinion Seal included with this Kit is a good quality aftermarket part. For a Premium Original Equipment Quality Pinion Seal for your truck, order optional QU40461 Seal for 1994-1999 or QU40570 Seal for 2000-2001.
Tech Note 2: Pinion Yoke
Inspect your old pinion flange yoke for wear or damage in the area where the seal rides. Replace any any yoke that has significant grooving or other conditions that could wreck or prematurely wear your new seal.
Tech Note 3: Crush Sleeve
The Dana 44 axles that use this Kit would be in 1994-2001 model year Dodge Ram 1500 and Ram 2500 4x4s. These axles use a crush sleeve instead of shims for pinion bearing preload.
