QU40461 Dana 30, Dana 44, Dana 50IFS Pinion Seal QU40461 is the exact genuine original equipment Dana Pinion Seal for 1994-1999 Dodge Ram 1500 and 1994-1997 light duty Ram 2500 with Dana 44 front axles. QU40461 is also the factory replacement seal for 2000 Jeep XJ Dana 30 front axles and most 1998-2001 Jeep TJ Dana 44 rear axles. Also fits 1980-1997 Ford Dana 50IFS front axles. Seal includes a ring of factory applied sealing compound on the inside face of the metal shell. When the seal is fully seated, the compound will seal against the axle housing. USA Made.

Tech Note 1: Before Installing
Lightly coat the pinion yoke seal surface with clean grease before installing the yoke on the axle.

Tech Note 2: Dimensionally
Dimensionally, QU40461 Seal has the same ID and OD as QU40215 Pinion Seal which was used on most Dana 44 axles before the mid 1990s. Dana supersedes QU40215 Seal which features a deflector that matches a groove in the pinion slinger with QU40461 Seal shown on this page. Since I believe QU40215 provides better protection for the seal lip on those older axles, I do not substitute QU40461 Seal for older axles that originally had QU40215, but you can do so if you wish to save some money.
