QU50083 Transfer Case Input Shaft Plug

QU50083 Sealing Plug for Input Shafts is used with X10000 Mainshaft Pilot Bearing to prevent oil from leaking through the inside of the Input Shaft on many New Process chain drive transfer cases. Country of origin not known.

Tech Note 1: Interchangeable Bearing Options
Some transfer cases will have this cup and X10000 bearing and some will have QU50114 one piece bearing and cup. The one piece design of QU50114 simplifies installation but it is more expensive than the combined cost of QU50083 and X10000. Both types were used in original equipment applications and are fully and functionally interchangeable.

Tech Note 2: Installation
First, clean the inside of the input shaft bearing bore. Next, to minimize the chance of any oil seepage, apply a light film of S64000 Sleeve Retaining Compound to the bearing bore and outside diameter of the cup. Install QU50083 Cup Type Soft Plug to a depth of about 9/16" below the the lead-in chamfer to the bearing bore. Wipe off any excess Sleeve Retainer from the inside of the bore. Install X10000 Bearing to flush with, or just below the lead-in chamfer of the input shaft. When properly installed, the bearing will contact QU50083 cup and push it in slightly deeper than it was originally set.
