Tech Note 1: Only Fits Dana GVW F250 50IFS
F-250 4x4s were available with either the 3800/3850 pound capacity Dana 44IFS or the optional 4600 pound rated Dana 50IFS Independent Front Suspension Twin Traction Beam® front drive axles. QU20280 Axle Beam only fits the heavy GVW F250s with Dana 50IFS front axles. If you are not sure which axle your F250 has, look at the front hubs. Dana 44 front hubs have an outside diameter roughly 3-3/8". Dana 50IFS axle hub diameter is about 4-1/8".

Tech Note 2: Pivot Bushing
I recommend you replace the Axle Beam Pivot Bushing with a new QU50097 Axle Beam Pivot Bushing before installing one of these Used Axle Beams

Tech Note 3: Ball Joints
This Axle Beam does not include Ball Joints. Order QK4561 Complete Ball Joint Set or QU50095 Upper and QU50056 Lower Individual Ball Joints.

Tech Note 4: Camber Bushing
The axle beams were the same for late 1980-1997 axles, but different replaceable upper ball joint camber bushings were used depending upon the year and suspension. In many, perhaps most cases, the original camber bushing was replaced during a front end alignment at some point in the vehicles history. If possible, install the camber bushing from your old axle beam in the replacement beam, then have your front end aligned by a competent front end specialist who can check and change toe-in, camber, and caster as needed.

Tech Note 5: Differential Housing Bolt Size
Very early production 1980 differential housings used two 3/8" bolts to attach the differential housing to the reinforcement plate on the left beam. The bolt size was increased to 1/2" in late 1980 or 1981 so the two plate holes in the axle beam were larger for all subsequent axles. QU20280U Beams are made for the 1/2" bolts
