TS4871 Dana 44 Inner Fixed Depth Axle Seal Tool Set Quickly and easily installs QU40055 Inner Axle Seal in vintage Chevy, Dodge, Ford, GMC, IHC, and Jeep 4x4s with Dana 44 front axles. Our unique installer design will press in your new Inner Axle Seals to the exact depth and without damage because the CNC Precision Machined Installation Tool cups the seal so force is only applied on the steel seal shell. Tech Note 1: Removal
Your brakes, wheel hubs, axle shafts, and differential must be removed from the housing to replace your QU40055 inner axle shaft seals.

Tech Note 2: Seal Variance
The inner axle seals used on Chevy, Dodge, Ford, GMC, IHC, and Jeep closed and open knuckle Dana Model 44 Front Axles will vary by year and model. Refer to the below to access our model specific application pages.

Tech Note 3: Depth Stop
TS4871 uses QT1041 application specific Depth Stop Seal Installer which has a raised flange on it that will stop against the Dana 44 axle bore face when QU40055 seal is at the correct depth.

Tech Note 4: Seal/Tool Match
Due to the way we have to make the tool to function, your Seal Installer and Seal MUST match. QT1041 Installer will only work with original equipment design, CR manufactured seals such as our QU40055. Seals manufactured by other seal manufacturers WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS INSTALLER!!!

Tech Note 5: Clean
Once the axle is disassembled, the old seals can be easily removed with our QK4647 Seal Remover Tool Set or other suitable tool such as a length of sturdy pipe that will fit inside the axle tube. You will also need to clean the inside of the axle tube to remove dirt and crud that could get pushed into your new seal during reassembly.
