Tech Note 1: QU40845 Specs
QU40845 Slip Yoke takes external snap ring type universal joints made to Spicer 1330 series dimensional specifications. The u-joint cup diameter is 1-1/16". The overall width is 3-5/8". For greaseable 1330 u-joints, see QU40774, for Torque King® u-joints, see TK40721. Most 1978 and later Ford applications that used this yoke as original equipment on one piece driveshafts will use a special 1330F u-joint that has two 1-1/16" diameter cups for the slip yoke and two 1-1/8" diameter cups to fit the end yoke. For greaseable 1330F u-joints, see QU40776, for Torque King® u-joints, see TK40723.
Tech Note 2: Matching Slip Stub
QU40845 typically mates to 16 spline slip stubs that have 1.375" outside diameter partial length splines (spline length is usually 2.25" to 3"). The yoke measures 7-1/2" from the center of the u-joint hole to the end of the spline.
Tech Note 3: Seal Installation
Install the press-on seal BEFORE trying to install the Slip Yoke on the splined slip stub.
Tech Note 4: In Phase
The Slip Yoke and weld Yoke at the opposite end of the tube MUST be in phase (See TM3000 Driveshaft Manual).
