QT1547 2003-up Dodge or Ram Ram 2500, Ram 3500 SRW Inner Wheel Seal Installer for installing QU50247 original equipment American Axle Manufacturing Oil Bath Rear Wheel Seal in 2003-up Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks equipped with either AAM 1050 10-1/2" or AAM 1150 11-1/2" Ring Gear 14 Bolt Rear Axles equipped with Single Rear Wheels. The Installer is made to clear the floating inner ring on current production Ram/AAM original equipment wheel seals for these vehicles. Tech Note 1: Available Driver Handles
QT1547 has a 5/8" center hole for attaching Installer to QT1100, QT1101, QT1116, or QT1119 Driver Handles.

Tech Note 2: Verify Axle Model
American Axle Manufacturing has supplied AAM 10-1/2" and 11-1/2" 14 bolt full floating rear axles to Ram (formally Dodge) for Ram trucks since the start of the 2003 model year. The 10-1/2" axle is primarily used on 2500 series trucks with gas V8 engines. AAM 11-1/2" rear axles are mostly found on Diesel or V10 gas 2500 models and as far as I can verify all Ram 3500 trucks with either single or dual rear wheels. There may be exceptions, so always verify your axle model before ordering parts that are specific to one axle.

Tech Note 3: Press Fit Seal
QT1547 Seal Installer is used to install QU50247 which is a unitized oil bath rear wheel seal that is designed so the inner sleeve rotates within the outer Seal Shell. This means the seal is a press fit on both the spindle and in the wheel hub. This design, in which the seal rotates within itself eliminates one of the most troublesome causes of wheel seal leaks with one piece conventional seals which often groove the spindle. Unlike conventional seals which have the seal lip directly rotating and wearing on the spindle, our Oil Bath Seal seal lip rotates on the seals fixed inner sleeve so there is no wear on the spindle at all.

Tech Note 4: Tool Design
2003-up Dodge and Ram AAM full floating rear axles use oil bath type inner wheel seals. One of the most common causes of oil bath seal failure is improper installation. QT1547 is designed to install your new seal evenly and without damage thereby eliminating wheel oil leaks caused by installation errors.

Tech Note 5: Check Axle Vent Components
Another possible cause of wheel seal leakage is pressure buildup caused by a plugged axle vent hose and/or fitting. Always check axle vent components for free air flow. A clogged vent hose will quickly cause your new seal to fail.
