QT1196 Triple Step Thrust Plate for Front Axle Seal Installation of 1987-1996 Jeep CAD Front Axles QT1196 is placed at the outer end of the axle tube to act as a thrust plate during axle shaft seal installation on 1987.5-1991 Cherokee/Comanche (XJ) and 1987-1996 Wrangler (YJ) 4x4s with Dana 30 front axles equipped with vacuum controlled Central Axle Disconnect (CAD). 1/2" ID center hole accepts QT1107 Press Rod. Made in Roberts, Montana, U.S.A. QT1196 is included in our QK4624 Seal Tool Kit and TS4624 Tool Set.

Tech Note 1: Step Feature
QT1196 is stepped so when you place pilot step in the end of the axle tube, it will center the pull rod which insures your seal will be installed square to the axle bore. Also See our QT1080, QT1089, Seal Installers along with QT1107 Press Screw.

Tech Note 2: Seal/Installer Chart
For the 1987 Model year, QU40307 is the correct Seal for the left side. The right side seal will depend upon the axle (Bill of Material Number). QT1002 installer and QU40105  Seal are used 1984-1987.5 XJ or early 1987 YJ models with CAD. All other 1987 Jeep Dana 30 CAD axles use the smaller QU40098 Seal and QT1080 Installer included in QK4624 Kit. If you have a 1987 XJ, check the axle Bill of Material (BOM) number which is stamped on the front of the right axle tube next to the differential housing and also on a metal tag held on by the two farthest right differential cover bolts before ordering parts.
