QU11223 Dodge New Process NP241DHD Transfer Case Bare Front Case Half is a New Take Out (NTO) part that includes the Annulus Gear and Snap Ring. Our QU11223 Bare Front Case Halves are taken from brand new New Process NP241DHD Transfer Cases we disassembled for parts. These cases can be used to replace any 1994 to 2002 Dodge Ram NP241DHD front case half EXCEPT assembly numbers 52099036, 52099037, and 52098534 by adding the appropriate input bearing and front output seal for your application. QU11223 is a New Take Out part so there will be some residual RTV sealant that needs to be cleaned off, plus there will be a bit of surface discoloration and minor dings from long storage. USA Made.

Tech Note 1: Product Info
QU11223 is a bare front housing that only includes the annulus gear and snap ring. It will directly replace most 1994-1997 front cases and all 1998-2002 front cases by adding the correct bearings and front output seal for your specific application. If you have a 1994-1996 NP241DHD Transfer Case with Assembly numbers 52098534, 52099036, or 52099037, see Tech Note 3.

Tech Note 2: Different Cases
New Process used at least 5 different front case half sub assembly part numbers for Dodge NP241DHD transfer cases. Of those 5 numbers, QU50591 1994-1997 and QU11143 1999.5-2002 NP241DHD front case sub-assemblies with annulus gear, input bearing, front output bearing, and input seal, are currently available to us through the company that bought the New Process production rights from Chrysler.

Tech Note 3: Planetary Configurations
There were two slightly different planetary tooth configurations for the 1994 to 1997 model years. 1994-1996 Assembly numbers 52098534, 52099036, 52099037 have a minutely thicker planetary tooth cut. We have tested QU11223 with original planetary and input gears. The gear mesh seems smooth, but snug. We can not guarantee this case will always work OK with the original parts for these assembly numbers.

Tech Note 4: Matching Seals and Bearings
The correct front output seal and bearing for NP241DHD Transfer Cases are: Front Output Seal 1994-1997: QU50514 or QU40366 (These two seals are interchangeable) Front Output Seal 1998-2002: QU10801 Front Output Bearing: QU50875 Front Output Bearing Snap Ring: QU10874.

Tech Note 5: Wide and Narrow Input Bearings
New Process used both QU50873 wide and QU50874 narrow input bearings in 1996-1999 NP241DHD Transfer Cases. Only QU50873 wide bearing was used on 1994-1995 and 2000-2002 models. The following information applies to factory assembled stock units, it is not necessarily valid if you have a rebuilt or modified transfer case!

Tech Note 6: DLD vs DHD
For the 1994 to 2002 model years, New Process made two versions of the NP241 transfer case for Dodge. NP241DLD (Dodge Light Duty) models were stock in Ram 2500 4x4 trucks. NP241DHD (Dodge Heavy Duty) was optional for Ram 2500 and stock for Ram 3500. NP241DHD cases have wider chains, PTO drive provision, and for 1996.5-2002 model years a larger rear output shaft compared to the DLD cases.
