Very early in the production life of the IHC Scout 80, the Dana Spicer Model 27F axle was replaced by the 27AF. The primary difference is the outer pinion bearing numbers were changed to be the same as the contemporary Dana 44 axle. The diameter of the outer pinion bearing cup for the Dana 27F is 2.5312". The Dana 27AF outer pinion bearing cup diameter is 2.8750". The change was effective with Chassis Number FC15544.
