Description

ID Your Dana Closed Knuckle Front Axle Ball Type. Dana-Spicer produced closed knuckle front drive axles from 1941-1979. These axles have a Ball welded to the outer end of each axle tube. The Ball is open at the outboard end and the top and bottom have pockets bored for knuckle bearing cups. A 2-layer seal is bolted to the back side of the knuckle and seals on the knuckle ball.

Two sizes of Balls were produced. The 5" diameter Ball is used on Dana 25 (1941-1965), Dana 27 (1962-1971), Dana 30 (1966-1973), and standard duty Dana 44 (1955-1975) front axles. A 7" diameter Ball will be found on Dana 44HD (1961-1975), Dana 60 (1967-1969 & 1974-1975), and Dana 70 (1958-1979) front axles.
