Description
D441975 Ring Gear Bolt, Pinion Nut, and Pinion Washer Set is an exact fit, Grade 9, genuine Dana-Spicer replacement part for most Dana 44 axles from the mid-1970's on. It also fits most Dana 30 and some Dana 35 axles. The ring gear bolts, have a serrated inner face resists loosening better than smooth-faced, aftermarket or first design Dana original equipment bolts. The bolts have locking teeth under the hex head to prevent loosening under any load conditions. QU40209 also works great for retrofitting older axles in place of the original bolt as long as you use torque spec given below. USA Made.

Tech Note 1: Single Use Only
For your safety, always replace Ring Gear Bolts!! They are designed for a single use. They must be replaced after they are removed!!!
These lock nuts are designed to be used only once. The locking ability of the nut is at its maximum on the initial installation. When setting up an axle, I use the old nut until the pinion depth and pinion preload is set. I then apply medium strength Threadlocker (see S9978, S24200) to a new nut and install it with a 1-1/8" socket. See my color illustrated Technical Manual TM4400 Pinion and Differential Bearing Service on Dana-Spicer Monobeam Axles or your Factory Shop Manual for the correct torque or tightening procedure.
Tech Note 2: Factory Torque
The factory recommended torque for QU40209 Bolt is 80-85 lb.-ft. (108-115 N-m). Tighten Bolts in a Crisscross pattern.
Tech Note 3: Threadlocker
Apply 242 Blue Threadlocker to the Bolt threads before installation.
