Tech Note 1: Reverse Spiral
These ring and pinion gear sets have a reverse cut or spiral compared to the conventional Dana 44 gear sets. The engineering reason for this is the pinion gear is located above the axle center line. Reverse spiral gear sets are NOT interchangeable with standard Dana 44 gear sets.
