TS4863 Drive Rod Set for Removing Front Inner Axle Shaft Oil Seals

TS4863 Drive Rod Set for Removing Front Inner Axle Shaft Oil Seals includes QT1145 and QT1151 Drive Rods and 2 QU95007 7/8" Grade 8 Coarse Thread (USS) Nuts. Use these Rods with the included nuts to remove inner axle seals from vintage axles with small inside diameter axle tubes or along with our available Seal Remover to drive out the inner axle seals from almost any solid beam front 4x4 drive axle. QT1145 is the long, outer Rod with a knurled grip which is used to drive out seals from the short side on most trucks or both the left and right seals on 1988 to 2002 Dodge Ram full size models with vacuum controlled Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) systems. QT1151 is the extension rod that screws onto QT1145 to reach the long side inner axle shaft seals. Both QT1145 and QT1151 are made from U.S. produced 1.25" diameter steel and have wrench flats machined in the shaft. Rods and Nuts are USA Made. Finish on either rod may be either light Brown Oil Finish or Black Oxide (no choice)

Tech Note 1: Complete Axle Disassembly Required
Most inner axle seals are located right next to the differential and are impossible to replace without disassembling the axle up to and including the differential. Once everything except the pinion gear is removed, you drive the seals inward until they drop into the housing.

Tech Note 2: Use Proper Tools
Once the seals are removed, you need to clean any dirt, grit or crud out of the diff housing and axle tubes. After that, you can install your new seals. Seal installation is best done with our tooling made for your specific application. Sometimes you can get by with makeshift installers you cobble together, but in most cases, using makeshift tools just guarantees you get to do the job all over again.

Tech Note 3: Tool Attachments
Our currently available attachments are:
QT1144: Fits axle tube inside diameters of 1.75" and larger. Max seal ID with rubber lip seals is 1.5", max seal diameter with oil bath type seal is 1-9/16" (used on Ford Excursion and Super Duty® Model 50 and 60 monobeam axles from 1999 to 2004). This remover fits most Model 30, Model 44, and GM 10 Bolt front axles. The outside diameter is made to fit through the inner plastic axle guides used on 1999-2004 Ford Super Duty and 2000-2005 Ford Excursion.
QT1214: Fits axle tube inside diameters of 2.00" and larger. Max seal ID 1-3/4". This remover fits most Model Model 44, Model 50, Model 60, Model 61, Model 70, AAM 925, and GM 10 Bolt front axles with 3" or larger outside diameter axle tubes.
QT1216: Fits axle tube inside diameters of 2.25" and larger. Max seal ID 2". This remover is primarily made to remove the large bore, right side seal on 2000-2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks with vacuum controlled Central Axle Disconnect (CAD). It will also work on all to remove the left seals on the same model trucks, plus either seal on all 2002 and newer Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 models and all 2005 and newer Ford Super Duty® F-250, F-350, F450, and F-550 4x4s.
For Smaller Axles: For axle tube diameters between 1.50" and 1.75", you just use QU95007 nut as the remover.
