QA4773R RECONDITIONED Left Axle Shaft Assembly with Torque King® U-Joint for all 1980 to 1997 Ford F-250 and 1980-1985 Ford F-350 4x4 trucks equipped with the Dana 50 IFS Twin Traction Beam® Front Axle. QA4773R includes serviceable used inner axle shaft and a new outer axle shaft and TK40719 Torque King® Cold Forged U-joint (See Tech Note 2). Assembled in U.S.A. from USA and imported components.

Tech Note 1: Not Included
Does not include outer axle shaft seals. Although the axle shaft support bearing is the same QU40149, two types of Seals were used. 1980-1992 axles (Type 1) used QU40064 press-on metal slinger, plus two seals and a thrust washer (see QA40168). 1993-1997 axles (Type 2) used two press-on seals (see QA40372). Although the individual seals are not interchangeable, you can use the complete Type 1 or Type 2 seal configurations on any year. I personally prefer the Type 1 type as it seems to be both more effective and longer lasting.

Tech Note 2: Inner Shaft
The inner shaft on QK4773R Recon shafts may or may not be a bit grooved from the axle shaft seal. This was a common problem with the left Dana 50 axle shaft, but fortunately, the groove profile is almost always smooth and rounded. You should always install a new axle shaft seal when installing either a new or recon shaft. It is possible to replace the seal without removing the differential from the vehicle.
