QU30166U Used Left Steering Knuckle for 1976.5-1978 Chevy/GMC 4x4

QU30166U Used Left Steering Knuckle for 1976.5-1978 Chevy and GMC 4x4 Front Axles is a good used Steering Knuckle complete with Spindle Studs, Steering Arm Studs, and Steering Arm split cone wedge bushings. QU30166U fits 1976-1978 K5 Blazer/Jimmy, K10/K15, and K20/K25 4x4s that have the tie rod mounted below the knuckle steering arm. These good used left Steering Knuckles are taken from axle assemblies our Research and Development Department had for part verification and tool design purposes.

Tech Note 1: Steering Knuckles
GM used several different steering knuckles in 1973-1981 Dana 44 and 1977-1991 GM 10 Bolt front axles. The differences are in the length of the spindle studs, how the tie rod mounts and whether or not there is a tapped hole that takes a small bolt used to stabilize the brake shield. The ball joint and spindle holes machined in the knuckles are the same for all years.

Tech Note 2: Wear
With QU30166U steering knuckle, the large end of the tapered tie rod mounting hole in the steering arm is at the bottom, so your tie rod will be installed below the steering arm and the tie rod nut will be on top of the steering arm. This Knuckle was designed to be used with a heavy stamped combination caliper support/rotor shield so it does not have a tapped hole to anchor a stamped brake shield used on some other years.

Tech Note 3: Studs
QU30166U Spindle Stud stick out length is approximately 1-1/16". Spindle Stud part number is QU40054. 
Steering Arm Studs are 7/8" with 18tpi
