Applications

Tech Note 1: Bearings and Seals
QU30159U bare hubs will have good seal/bearing bores and threaded hub holes. The hub does NOT include bearings or seals. Order QU50101 Wheel Seal, QU50569 Inner Bearing, QU50568 Inner Cup, QU50447 Outer Cup, and QU50448 Outer Bearing separately.

Tech Note 2: 1977 Design Change
GM and Jeep both used two types of non-interchangeable wheel hubs for their 1970's era disc brake equipped 3/4 ton 4x4 trucks. QU30163U hub is the first design hub type. The outer hub face has six 3/8" coarse thread holes that are used to mount either an external drive flange or a lockout hub assembly. During the 1977 model year, a hub design change to QU50834 internally splined hub occurred. 1977 model year trucks can have either hub design depending upon if they are early or late production vehicles. All 1978-1991 GM and 1978-1988 Jeep 3/4 tons had the QU50834 splined hub design from the factory.

Tech Note 3: New Wheel Studs
Always use new wheel studs when assembling the brake rotor to the wheel hub.

Tech Note 4: Rotor
The press forces exerted on the parts may cause the brake rotor to warp when assembling the hub and rotor. Maximum allowable rotor runout is 0.003". A warped rotor will cause brake pedal pulsation during braking. The best solution is to have the rotors machined with a hub-mounted on the vehicle brake lathe.
