QU40857 Splined Midship Slip Stub for 3" x 0.083" wall thickness tubing is an exact length, 16 spline replacement for Dodge original equipment 15 spline based on 16 spline slip stub used on heavy duty Dodge 3/4 ton and 1 ton models with 2 piece rear driveshafts from 1989 to 2003. Also used on Ford F250 and F350 applications prior to 1993. The splines are coated with Glidecote to reduce friction and maximize spline life. USA Made.

Tech Note 1: Measure
Make sure the outside diameter of your driveshaft tube is 3". Measure the distance from the center of the weld to the end of the spline. If that dimension is approximately 10-1/2" to 10-3/4", then this is the part for your Dodge driveshaft.

Tech Note 2: Splines
Spline Counts can be confusing, but the important thing to remember is that a double width spline is equal to 2 single width splines. This 16 spline slip stub will accept 14 spline, 15 spline, and 16 spline slip yokes since they are all based on a 16 spline standard. A 14 spline slip yoke will have 12 regular spline grooves and 2 opposed double width spline grooves. A 15 spline yoke has 14 regular spline grooves and one double width groove. A 16 spline yoke has 16 spline grooves. The double width splines are used to ensure you assemble the yokes in phase. The factory applied yellow marking on this stub is the phase indicator that matches a double width slip yoke groove.

Tech Note 3: Center Bearings
This Slip Stub is for use in a two piece rear driveshaft that has a center bearing pressed on the stub. For 1989 to 1993 Dodge Cummins Diesel powered trucks, order QK3063 Center Bearing. For 1994 to 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 (except for light duty 2500 trucks with semi-float rear axles), use QK3064 Center Bearing Kit.
