TK40723 Torque King® 1330F Series Premium Quality Universal Joint is a USA Made, premium quality, heavy-duty factory-lubed Universal Joint for Spicer 1330F series applications on 1979-1997 Ford trucks. TK40723 features extra-hard, cold-forged, alloy steel cross, High-temperature synthetic lubricant, Multi-lip seals, precision ground cups, tough, durable thrust washers between the journal ends and cups, and corrosion resistant External Snap Rings. TK40723 has 2 different cup sizes to match 1330 series driveshafts (1-1/16" cup diameter) to the special Cleveland type (1-1/8" cup diameter) Transfer Case and Pinion Yokes used on many Ford full-size models from 1979-1997. Tech Note 1: Cold-Forged
The cross on Torque King® universal joints is cold-forged instead of hot-forged like conventional universal joints. The cold-forged cross has a more consistent grain structure and harder journals making it highly resistant to wear from the bearing rollers. The long-lasting, high quality, factory applied lubrication is kept in and contaminants are kept out by an o-ring type, internal triple lip cup seal protected by an outer plastic deflector. Under almost any conditions, a properly installed Torque King® universal joint will outlast any conventional greaseable universal joint by a wide margin, especially in Diesel rear driveshaft applications.
Tech Note 2: Cups
For 1979-1997 Ford full size driveshaft applications, you always have to check to see if the diameter of all 4 cups are the same. On many of these Ford driveshafts with Single-Cardan (1 u-joint) yokes, you will find one of these 1330F series u-joint which have 1-1/16" diameter cups pressed in the driveshaft yoke, and 1-1/8" cups bolted to the axle or transfer case yoke. The larger diameter cups have thicker walls which are more resistant to deformation from the u-bolts that typically attach the universal joint to the gear box yoke on these older vehicles.
Tech Note 3: U-Joint Specs
TK40723 is a special external snap ring type universal joint made to match Spicer 1330 series driveshaft yokes with cup diameter is 1-1/16" (26.99 mm) and Ford axle, transmission, or transfer case yokes made for 1-1/8" (28.6 mm) diameter cups. The overall width for both cup sets is 3-5/8" (92.08 mm).
