Tech Note 1: Appearance
The most common problem with the Dana chrome cap is bending and cracking under the bolt holes. The few used caps we have are from my private stash so they have do not have this problem, but there will be external dings and such. We have been sold out of brand new caps for several years and since they have been out of production since the 1970's, I really doubt if we will ever find any more.
Tech Note 2: Availability
Spicer made external mount Plastic Dial free-wheel Hub-Locks from the late 1960's to the mid 1970's. These Hubs were the factory original equipment parts for both to Ford and GM 3/4 ton 4x4 trucks with Dana 44 front axles. They were also used on Ford F-250 Crew Cab trucks with Dana 60 closed knuckle front axles from 1974-1975.Most parts for these hubs have been out of production for decades so parts availability is becoming quite limited.
