Tech Note 1: Shim Replacement
When replacing inner pinion bearings on an existing gear set, you MUST reinstall the exact same combined thickness of depth shims, plus inner slingers and/or baffles. Rebearing service procedures are covered in my TM4400 Pinion and Differential Bearing Service on Dana-Spicer Monobeam Axles.

Tech Note 2: Pinion Slinger
A Pinion Stem Shim or Inner Pinion Slinger is not used on all models, however, if either one is present, it is part of the overall pinion depth shim pack. Pinion depth on these axles is set by a combination of Pinion Shims placed between the inner pinion bearing cup and axle housing AND either a Pinion Stem Shim (rear axle) OR Inner Pinion Slinger (front axle) placed between the inner pinion bearing and pinion head. Only use a Stem Shim or Inner Slinger If your axle had one when it was originally assembled at the Dana factory.

Tech Note 3: Replacing Pinion Slinger
This Kit includes both thick and thin Inner Pinion Slingers. If your axle was equipped with a Slinger, use the thickness that most closely matches the original Slinger.
