QU40320 CAD Diff Output Shaft Support Bushing 1994-2001 Ram Dana 44

QU40320 CAD Right Differential Output Shaft Support Bushing for Dodge Ram Intermediate Shaft This plastic bushing replaced QU40292 Bearing on some later production 1994-2001 Ram 1500 and 1994-1997 Dodge Ram 2500 trucks UNDER 8800 pound GVW. Both this bushing and QU40292 Bearing are totally interchangeable with each other in Model 44 axles used in your 1994-1997 Light duty 3/4 ton Ram 2500 4x4. QU40320 Bearing is located in your right axle tube, just to the left of the rectangular CAD opening. This genuine original equipment, press-fit bearing supports the splined end of the differential output (what Dodge calls the intermediate shaft).

Tech Note 1: Worn Bushing
QU40320 carries a good percentage of the right axle shaft weight. If either it, or QU40107 Right Inner Axle Shaft Support Bushing gets worn, you are probably going to have problems with oil leaking past the right axle shaft seal AND shift problems with the front axle when the splined shift collar can not freely move due to axle shaft misalignment.

Tech Note 2: Lubricate
Lubricate the Bushing with petroleum jelly after installation.

Tech Note 3: Disassembly Tip
Before you start to disassemble the right side of your axle, shift your transfer case into 4x4 with the engine running and the vehicle properly supported. Wait until the 4x4 dash light illuminates before you shut off the engine. If the vacuum controlled CAD system is working properly, this will keep the Axle Shift Collar in place when you remove the right axle shaft.

Tech Note 5: Removal
The best way to remove the Bushing is with a Blind Hole Bearing Puller attached to a Slide Hammer. You will need to rig an extension to reach the Bushing which is pressed in the axle tube.
