Description

QU40292 Warn Hub and Dodge Ram Differential Output Shaft Support Bearing is located in your axle tube, next to the rectangular CAD opening on your Dodge 4x4 equipped with a Dana 44 or Dana 60 front axle and a vacuum actuated Central Axle Disconnect system (CAD). This genuine original equipment, press-fit bearing supports the splined end of the differential output shaft (what Dodge calls the intermediate shaft). If you have a 1985-1993 Dodge, this bearing is located in the left axle tube just to the right of the CAD opening. For the 1994 model year, Dodge switched the differential to the left side of the vehicle, so if you have a 1994 to 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 or Ram 3500 with CAD, you will find this bearing installed in your right axle tube just to the left of the CAD opening. This bearing is dimensionally interchangeable with QU40320 plastic bushing which Dodge started using in 1994-2001 1/2 ton Ram 1500 trucks. QU40292 also vintage Warn M2 and other Hub Locks (M2 Exploded View). USA Made.

Applications

Tech Note 1: Worn Parts
QU40292 carries a good percentage of the right axle shaft weight. If either it, or QU40107 Right Inner Axle Shaft Support Bushing gets worn, you are probably going to have problems with oil leaking past the right axle shaft seal AND shift problems with the front axle when the splined shift collar can not freely move due to axle shaft misalignment.

Tech Note 2: Lube
Lubricate the Bearing with clean grease or petroleum jelly after installation.

Tech Note 3: Before Disassembly
Before you start to disassemble the right side of your axle, shift your transfer case into 4x4 with the engine running and the vehicle properly supported. Wait until the 4x4 dash light illuminates before you shut off the engine. If the vacuum controlled CAD system is working properly, this will keep the Axle Shift Collar in place when you remove the right axle shaft.

Tech Note 4: Removing Bearing
The best way to remove the Bearing is with a Blind Hole Bearing Puller attached to a Slide Hammer. You will need to rig an extension to reach the bearing pressed in the axle tube.
