TK3038 Torque King® Premium Rear Drive Shaft Universal Joint Kit for 1989 to 1993 Dodge with 1 Piece Driveshaft fits both 4x2 D250, D350 and W250, W350 4x4 Trucks with Cummins Diesel engines (either automatic or manual transmission) and some gas engine models of the same era. Tech Note 1: Hot-forged U-Joint Kits
For decades, the vast majority of u-joints on the market have used inexpensive crosses that are hot forged. This type of u-joint worked just fine with gas engine and non-turbo diesels, but when Chrysler introduced the Cummins Diesel engine for the 1989 Model year Dodge truck, hot forged joints just could not and can not take the Cummins torque without the bearing rollers wearing into the cross journals. For this reason, we only recommend our Torque King® universal joints with wear resistant Cold-Forged crosses and excellent seals be used in trucks with a Cummins Diesel engine. If you have one of the rare 1989-1993 gas V8 Dodge trucks with 1410 series rear u-joints, YOU can use our less expensive QK3001 or QK3032 U-joint Kits with hot forged u-joints.
Tech Note 2: U-Joint Specs
TK3038 uses TK40705 external snap ring type universal joints made to Spicer 1410 series specifications. The u-joint cup diameter is 1-3/16". The overall u-joint width is 4-3/16".
