QU30300 Rear Axle Shaft or Transfer Case Single Lip, Single Spring Seal with high temp rated lip fits 1969-1973 Jeep Dana 60 Semi-Float Rear axles and 1960-1969 Chevy or GMC Rockwell T221 transfer case front output yoke, rear output yoke, and 1960-1966 input yokes. For Jeep Dana 60 axles, QU30300 is the inner axle shaft seal.

Tech Note 1: Use 2
The original Rockwell T221 Transfer Case Seal was a low temp rated, opposed Double Lip/Double Spring Seal that was 3/4" wide and it protruded out from the bearing retainer about 1/4". QU30300 is a high-temp single lip seal that is 5/16" wide so 2 seals can be stacked in each bearing retainer. For maximum oil sealing, I recommend you stack the two seals consecutively with the open side of the seals towards the inside of the transfer case and both seal faces toward the outside. Installed this way, you will get double the sealing effect compared to a single seal which is especially important if you have worn yokes or loose bearings. If road splash is a problem, you can install the 2 seals face to face to mimic the original Rockwell seal. When installed face to face, the inner seal keeps oil in the transfer case and the outer seal seals out road splash and debris.

Tech Note 2: Product Note
The Rockwell T221 design is from the 1950's. Its 4 shaft design was not designed for constant modern highway speeds. When operated at higher speeds for any length of time, the T221 runs hot enough so conventional 250 degree rated nitrile oil seals often fail. QU30300 is a 300 degree rated, premium polyacrylate seal that is compatible with both conventional and synthetic oils or Extreme Pressure gear lubricants.

Tech Note 3: Lubricate
Lubricate the seal lip with petroleum jelly to provide initial lubrication on startup.

Tech Note 4: J-Series Pickups
For 1969-1973 Jeep J-Series pickups, QU30300 acts is the inner axle shaft oil seal. It must be installed with the open or spring side towards the differential. QU50935 outer seal on these applications is just a grease seal.
