Tech Note 1: Product Note
QU20190 is used on 1999-2004 New Process NV271 and NV273 transfers cases with fixed rear output yokes. It is not used on Dodge transfer cases with slip yoke type rear output shafts all of which were built with QU20215 Bearing.

Tech Note 2: Alternative Bearing
QU20190 is a full complement Needle Roller Bearing used in 1999-2004 Ford Excursion and Super Duty® New Venture NV271F Manual Shift and NV273F Electric Shift Transfer Cases. Starting in later 2004, QU20215 caged Needle Roller Bearing replaced QU20190 in production transfer cases. The two bearings are dimensionally the same, but have different load and speed ratings. 1999-2004 Bearing #QU20190 has a higher capacity rating, but lower speed rating when compared to the late 2004-up Bearing #QU20215. As of February 2012, Ford still does not show the early bearing being replaced by the later so it is my recommendation you use whichever bearing type was original equipment on your transfer case.

Tech Note 3: New Venture/New Process/Magna
In 1998, when Ford (1999 models) and Dodge (2003 models) first used NV271 and NV273 transfer cases, New Process Gear (NPG) of East Syracuse N.Y. was part of New Venture Gear (NVG). When NVG dissolved, NPG continued on under Chrysler. Chrysler subsequently sold the production rights to Magna, a Canadian automotive parts company. All these name changes are confusing, but the important thing to know is a specific assembly number for any 271F, 271D, 273D, and 273F transfer case is the same and uses the same replacement parts regardless of it was built by New Venture, New Process, or Magna.
