Ford used several different steering knuckle part numbers for the 1983-1997 era Dana 50IFS front axle. There are three major knuckle variations depending upon the type of brake caliper used. From 1983 to 1985 the calipers are held in place by a slide and spring placed between the lower edge of the caliper and the knuckle casting. 1986-1994 calipers are retained by upper and lower long, diamond shaped rubber and steel pins. Each end of the caliper has a V-shaped groove as does the caliper support arms that are part of the knuckle. 1995-1997 knuckles are made for bolt-on caliper anchor plates. There are also casting differences for the first two knuckle types depending upon the year.
All 1980-1997 Ford Dana 50IFS axles use steering linkage parts that are similar id design, however, the individual parts will vary depending upon year.
Tech Note: After installing a replacement knuckle and/or steering linkage part always have your front end aligned.
