According to Dana-Spicer, they supplied two front spindle nut types for 1985-1991 F-350 Dana 60 Front Axles. The Dana parts lists shows 1985 model year Dana 60 front axles will have a 6 slot spindle nut set with a thrust washer and bend over tab lockwasher (A carry-over design from the 1970's). Ford Parts lists, however show the 1985 axle used the same 4 slot spindle nut set as 1986-1991 year trucks. So, if you have a 1985 axle, you need to verify what parts YOUR axle has. There is no question 1986-1991 axles were built with a 4 slot double nut set with a perforated washer lock larger than, but similar to the nut sets Ford used in Dana 44 axles as far back as 1959.
The dead, hollow spindle design of the 1985-1991 era Ford F-350 Dana 60 series axles uses QU40149 needle bearing to support the outer axle shaft. Axial thrust is handled by a plastic thrustwasher. Two V-Seals are used to protect the spindle bearing. We stock all the individual components, plus Kits combining the pieces.
