Shift Forks & Rails 1992-2007 GM NV4500

Shop Now for Shift Forks and Shift Rails for your 1992-2007 GM New Venture NV4500 5 speed standard transmission.

The GM NV4500 transmission does not usually have problems with Shift Fork wear except for some GM models with one piece reverse forks. When significant wear does occur, the root cause is usually grossly excessive shaft end-play caused by either oil problems or just a lot of miles. The fifth and reverse forks can be replaced without much trouble, but if you need to replace the 1-2 or 3-4 forks, cover modification is required. See TM1003 illustrated NV4500 Service Manual for Top Cover service procedures and order either QK1144 or QK1145 Top Cover Service Kits.

The New Venture NV4500 transmission has four shift rails, three of those, including the 5th-Reverse Rail are in the top cover. The fourth rail which is for 5th gear, is located partly in the transmission case and it is controlled indirectly by the reverse shift fork through a connecting arm or lug.
