Unless your axle has run out of oil or it is severely abused, you will probably never have to replace your original ring and pinion set. These genuine gear sets are not cheap when compared to the host of knock off Asian import gear sets being pushed into the market place by vendors focused on getting the cheapest stuff they can. Well, like anything, you get what you pay for. I have been setting up Dana Gear Sets since the mid 1970's to date, and I have never had a setup problem with a genuine Dana-Spicer Gear Set. The same is not true for the aftermarket parts. Besides having sloppy machining, most aftermarket gears are not made to use the Dana factory set up tools, so a person usually has to apply some blood-boiling "Kentucky Windage" to the setup procedure to make progress!
