The infamous "NV4500 5th Gear Failure" is almost always wrongly blamed on the nut. Having your nut back off is a consequence of an inadequately supported mainshaft 5th gear on stock and full spline mainshafts. Radial and axial movement of the gear will loosen the nut. No nut design will prevent 5th gear failures although they may delay them. The only way to solve the problem is to redesign the shaft, gear, and nut set which we did with now out of production Torque King® mainshaft sets.
