1967-1971 Ford Bronco Dana 30 Front Axles use an unusual open knuckle design that uses King Pins and Knuckle Bearings like a closed knuckle axle instead of Ball Joints. Once installed, there is no way to lubricate the Knuckle Bearings without disassembly so it is imperative that you pack your new Bearings with a high quality grease such as Pyroplex Plus® before installation. Knuckle Bearing preload is set using a combination of shims located between the King Pin Caps and Steering Knuckles. On 1968-1971 axles, compressible dampeners positioned between the inner Cup Plug and King Pin Stem are used to control "Death Wobble" (These dampeners also affect the Knuckle turning preload).
