The wheel hub used on 1972-1974 Dodge 1/2 ton 4x4s with Dana 44 open knuckle front axles has internal splines. All the 1972-1974 3/4 tons use bolt on type hubs. 1975 was the year Dodge introduced Dana 44 live spindle front axles for the W series 4x4s. There were probably a few 1975 special order trucks built with the older, drum brake front axles which can be equipped with lockout hubs, but the majority of 1975 to 1979 trucks will have live spindle, full time front axles.

Dodge W100 1/2 ton trucks do not use the same wheel bearings and seals as those found on similar year 3/4 ton W200 trucks. 1975 was the year Dodge introduced Dana 44 live spindle front axles for the W series 4x4s. There were probably a few 1975 special order trucks built with the older, drum brake front axles which can be equipped with lockout hubs, but the majority of 1975 trucks will have live spindle, full time front axles which use completely different bearings.

It is always good preventative maintenance to replace the all wheel bearings and seals when restoring or maintaining your vintage 4x4. The parts availability for decades old 4x4s declines on a daily basis. Wrecking a wheel hub and/or spindle when the old bearing you reused fails can either cost you a mint or put your broken-down truck on blocks forever. We stock Kits with high quality Timken® Wheel Bearings and North American made Wheel Seals to keep your veteran Dodge rolling, plus, you can order your Kit with or without install tools.
