A cut gasket is not used between the differential housing and left axle beam on Dana 50 IFS axles because it's thickness would cause the inner axle shafts to be slightly misaligned with the center of the spindles. High quality RTV sealant is used. The mating faces of the diff housing and axle beam MUST BE Clean! That means NO dirt, fingerprints, old sealant, oil etc. on either mating surface.
