American Axle 11-1/2" ring gear rear axles in 2003 to 2018 Dodge/Ram 3500 trucks were available with either open or Tracrite® limited slip differentials. The Trac-Rite® posi diffs are a gear type limited slip that provides a good amount of extra grip in low traction conditions but do not adversely affect driveability under normal operating conditions. Changing out differentials in the 1150 axle is pretty straightforward as gear backlash and differential bearing preload is accomplished using threaded adjusters instead of shims.
