The 35 spline Dodge Dana 80 Open Differential is more than adequate for stock or near stock engine horsepower. As power increases, the chances of gear breakage increase substantially. If you are planning an axle ratio change, you need to keep in mind the ring gear offsets are different for 3.73 and numerically lower ratios and 4.10 and numerically higher ratios. So if you are changing from a 3.54 to 4.10 or vice-versa, you MUST change the diff case! The internal parts are the same, but the ring gear flange on the diff case (carrier) is closer to the pinion on the 4.10-up cases.
