Diff & Pinion Bearings 72-93 Dodge D70 Rear Axle

Shop Now for Differential Bearings and Pinion Bearings for 1972-1993 Dana 70 Series Rear Axles in Dodge D300, W300, D350, and W350 trucks.

Over the years, Dana has primarily used Timken bearings when building their axles. For long life and dimensional consistency, Timken bearings are unmatched by any other brand of bearing I have used rebuilding axles over the past 30+ years in the business. When you are a shade tree mechanic dealing with a diff and pinion rebearing job without all the fancy gauging tools we have, you always want your new bearings to be the same overall thickness as the original bearings were when the axle was built so your pinion depth, pinion preload and backlash are within the tolerance limits when you are done with the job. Timken bearings will almost always deliver that type of accuracy, plus the steel quality and surface finish is the world's best.

1972-1984 vintage Dodge Dana 70 and Dana 70HD rear axles share many of the same parts, but they use different differential bearings and bearing cups. The standard Dana 70 rear axle used in 1972-1984.5 1 ton trucks and motorhome chassis plus some 400 series 1-1/4 ton motorhomes have differential side bearing cups that have an outside diameter of 3-13/16".  The Dana 70HD Heavy-Duty rear axles found in most 400 series and 500 series Dodge motorhomes feature 4-1/8" diameter differential side bearing cups. Also, Dana 70HD axles use a combination of outside bearing cup spacers and shims between the differential and differential bearings to set gear backlash and differential bearing preload. Standard Dana 70 axles just use shims between the bearing and differential case.
