2005-2016 Ford F250 and most width F350 4x4s use the same length axle shafts for the 2005-2016 model years. The only exception is some F350 crew cab and ambulance package dual rear wheel vehicles with the "Fat Boy" extended front axle option. Even though all the F250 and regular F350 side specific axle shafts are interchangeable, what is confusing is the matching dust seals that go at the outboard end of the axle housing tubes may need to be changed to a different style when you buy a replacement axle shaft. You will find some trucks with a dust seal that presses on the inner axle shaft next to the yoke, some with a cartridge seal pressed into the end of the axle housing, and some that only use a loose-fitting plastic slinger on the inner axle shaft. Except for early production trucks that all used the seal pressed against the inner axle shaft yoke, there is no hard and fast rule about which seal was used for production. There have been multiple numbers listed for each axle shaft assembly, and they only differ in the dust seal type.
