1957-1965 Axle Identification FC-150 Dana 44R

Dana 41 rear axles were used by Jeep from 1946 to 1950. The Jeep Dana 44 Rear axle with tapered axle shafts was used from mid-1950 to 1971. Jeep phased in Dana 44 axles with flanged axle shafts in the 1969 model year although the tapered shaft version was used for some applications until 1971. Axles with Tapered axle shafts are easy to identify from the little tin hub cap that covers the axle shaft nut.
