2017-Current Ford F350 DRW Rear Hub
The 2017 to Current Ford F350 Dual Rear Wheel Trucks use a Dana 300 Rear Axle. This axle was first introduced for the 2017 model year as a replacement for both the Dana 80 (F350) and Dana S110 Rear Axles (F450/F550).
The Dana 300 is a conventional, integral type housing hypoid gear iron-beam axle with two pinion bearings. The pinion is located below the centerline of the ring gear. Ring gear diameter is 11.8" (300mm) which is larger than the 11-1/4" Dana 80 ring gear used on previous generation F350s but smaller than the Dana S110 12-1/4" diameter ring gear used on 2005-2016 F450 and F550 trucks.
The Dana 300 used in the F350 Fords have smaller wheel bearings and a lighter housing compared to the F450/550 version. TK21008 2017-up F350 Dual Rear Wheel Rear Wheel Hub uses replaceable inner and outer tapered wheel bearings. QU40102 ratchet type spindle nut is used for wheel bearing retention and adjustment using special tool number QT1019i. The unitized, TK21004 oil-bath type wheel seal also requires a special installation tool (QT1556) to locate it to the correct depth in the rear hub bore.
An o-ring is used to seal between the full-float type axle shaft and wheel hub. The axle shaft is retained by 8 TK21003 metric bolts with factory applied threadlocker. Reuse of the axle shaft bolts is not recommended by Ford Motor Company.
The Axle Shafts have 37 Splines. There are 5 different Axle Shaft lengths depending if the axle is from a pickup (wide frame), 34" frame cab and chassis (narrow frame), or an ambulance chassis. In addition, the Left and Right Axle Shafts are different lengths for each vehicle type.
The wheel bearings should be packed with grease to provide initial lubrication. In service, 75w140 Synthetic Differential Oil that travels into the wheel hub will provide long-term wheel bearing lubrication.
The brake rotor is a separate part that bolts to the back side of the hub with 8 bolts.
