Jeep designated the full-size Wagoneer, Cherokee, Cherokee Chief, and pickups as J-Series vehicles. All 1974-1991 Jeep J-Series models have Dana 44 open knuckle front axles. The 3/4 ton J-20 truck has 8 bolt front wheel hubs. (The Wagoneer/Cherokee and 1/2 ton J-10 models have 6 bolt front wheel hubs.) 1980-1988 Jeep J-20 models have disc brakes and left side differentials. Except for a vacuum disconnect offered for the 1982-1984 model years, the front axle design was largely unchanged through the entire production period.
