Tech Note 1: Parts Availability
Spicer supplied Dana 60 spline mount, Face Tooth Design, Hub Locks to both General Motors and Ford for a very short time before Warn M256 series hubs replaced Spicer hubs as original equipment for both Ford (1980) and GM (1982). While Spicer hub locks were durable, by now, most 1977-1981 trucks have either been crushed or have had the original Spicer Hubs replaced by Warn 11690 (M256) or aftermarket hubs. Spicer Dana 60 hub parts production ended in 1981 so parts stocks are nearly exhausted. Check the torqueking.com web site for current parts availability.

Tech Note 2: Lubrication
To insure proper hub operation and also protect against corrosion, apply a very THIN film of a quality grease to the internal hub components. Spicer recommended Moly XL hi-speed grease for the internals and Parker "O" Ring Lube (now O-Lube) for the o-rings. Since I did not have ready access to either product, I always used the same grease type as the wheel bearings. The specific grease is probably not as important as the proper quantity. Not enough grease will will lead to both corrosion and metal to metal wear. Too much grease will hinder the locking function of the hubs especially in cold climates.
