QU90054 1/16" x 2' Soft Steel Lockwire for retaining critical fasteners on vintage engines, transmissions, transfer cases, and axles. QU90054 lock wire is soft enough to make tight twists with a specialized lockwire twist tool but strong enough to resist shearing. Rarely seen today, lock wiring nuts and bolts used to be a common practice for important fasteners before the days of thread locking compounds and high strength threaded nuts. About the last popular 4x4 application that used Lock Wires was the 1973-1977.5 Remote Mount Ford NP205 transfer cases to secure the castle nuts to the transfer case mounting studs.
