Tech Note 1: 2007 Models
2008 and newer 10-1/2" rear axles use a different inner pinion bearing. Some sources list 2007 to have the early bearing, other list the late. From what I have seen, most, but not all 2007 model year axles have the later bearing, but since Ford part number lookup is now based on the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), we need the VIN to verify which gear set you need. So if you have a 2007, contact us with your VIN before ordering so we can tell you what parts are correct for your truck.
Tech Note 2: Shims
When you are doing a gear swap, most likely you will need to change the pinion depth with a different thickness shim and reshim the differential for proper gear contact and bearing preload. For the diff, we do have some of the OEM thick, cast shims (really a spacer), but you need to know the exact thickness you need before ordering unless you want to spend a couple of hundred plus on a spacer kit. The alternative is to use a "build-a-shim" shim kit like our QU50788 which allow you to stack thinner shims to get the desired thickness.
