In 1994, General Motors sold it's axle division to a group of investors who renamed their new acquisition American Axle Manufacturing (AAM). The AAM 14 Bolt, 10-1/2" Ring Gear full floater rear axle is what used to be called the as the Chevy or GM corporate 14 Bolt, 10-1/2" Ring Gear full float rear axle.
