1994-1997 Dodge Dana 60 Front Axle Introduction
The heavy-duty, Dana-Spicer, Model 60 248 Front Beam-Design Iron (FBI) axle was used on all 1994 to 1997 Ram 3500 4x4 1 Ton trucks regardless of engine, and most Ram 2500 trucks. For the 1994-1997 model years, the only Ram 2500/3500 4x4's which did NOT have the Model 60 were some 1994-1997 light duty, gas V8, Ram 2500 trucks with less than 8800 pound Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) that used a Model 44 front axle.* Dana 60 front axles used in 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 4x4's were factory equipped with a vacuum actuated Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) system.
*Tech Note: The GVW is listed on the build tag located on the door frame.
