QU40746U USED New Process NP205 32 Spline 1310 Series Rear Output Yoke is a redesigned yoke style that uses new style QU40735 straps and bolts to retain the universal joint. Designed to replace your original Ford or GM NP205 Rear Output Yoke or can be retrofitted to any other 32 spline New Process NP205 fixed yoke application. Can be used as a Remote Input or Front Output Yoke, simply by adding QU20030 Front Yoke Slinger. Use with 2-1/8" inside diameter seal.

Tech Note 1: Add Slinger for Front Use 
To convert QU40746 rear output yoke to a Remote Input or Front Output Yoke, simply remove QU20030 Front Yoke Slinger from your old yoke and press it on the new.

Tech Note 2: 1310 U-Joint Specs 
QU40746 is made for external snap ring type universal joints made to Spicer 1310 series dimensional specifications. The u-joint cup diameter is 1-1/16". The overall width is 3-7/32". Matching universal joints are TK40720 Premium Factory-Lubed U-Joint with Cold-Forged cross or QU40784 Greaseable U-Joint.

Tech Note 3: 7260 Conversion
QU40746 can be used to replace Dodge 7260 series yokes by also ordering QU40736 1310 x 7260 Conversion U-Joint plus QU40735 Strap and Bolt Kit

Tech Note 5: Straps vs U-Bolts
Most older production NP205 non-CV yokes like QU40931 use QU40768 U-Bolt Kit to secure the universal joint cups in the yoke. Late production yokes like QU40746 use QU40735 Strap and Bolt Kit with stamped metal straps and bolts. The main engineering reason for the change was to increase universal joint life by minimizing cup distortion caused by the u-bolts actually deforming the cups when tightened. Ford tried to address this back in the 1970's and 1980' by using larger diameter cups with thicker walls on the 1330F series universal joint. The u-bolts are probably the stronger of the two methods of u-joint retention, but of little real value unless extreme driveline angles or competition reliability are a factor. Except for the 1330F universal joint and with all other factors equal, universal joints secured with straps and bolts will usually outlast ones secured with u-bolts.

Tech Note 6: High Performance
For high-performance rear output applications, I recommend you replace your weak original NP205 32 spline rear output shaft with our TK50084 shaft. The redesigned, stronger part which was exclusively used in 1989-1993 Dodge Cummins Diesel Trucks with 5-speed manual transmissions.
